This is part of an ongoing hydrant and water main maintenance program. With this program we make sure the hydrants are in working order and how much water is available.

If I use my washing machine while they are flowing hydrants, the rusty water stains my clothes. What can I do to clean them?
There are several products out on the market to add to your wash water that will work. They contain oxalic acid and go under several trade names such as "Iron Out". They are available at hardware stores and grocery stores.

The different colors tell the firefighters how much water is available through that hydrant.
