High-quality masterpieces from the Detroit Institute of Art’s (DIA) collection will soon be displayed throughout the City of Birmingham during the DIA’s Inside Out program, which is sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Ten replicas will be on display outdoors from April through July, four of which will be on public property.
Keep an eye out for art installations near the Baldwin Public Library, the Birmingham Historical Museum and Park, Booth Park, and Shain Park. The City of Birmingham also participated in the Inside Out program in 2010 and 2011. Highlights for this year’s program include new images that better reflect the diversity of the museum’s collection and broad interests of the communities. The high-profile program is expected to generate excitement and increased foot traffic in the downtown area.
