PASSPORT ACCEPTANCE SERVICES IN THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM CLERK'S OFFICE IS SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THE SITUATION WILL CONTINUE TO BE RE-ASSESSED WITH STAFFING CHANGES AND AVAILABLE RESOURCES. The Western Hemisphere travel initiative requires U.S. citizens to have a passport when traveling outside the United States.  Log on to www.travel.state.gov for detailed information regarding travel (by land and sea) with children under the age of 16 and children under the age of 19 traveling with a group or organization.

An adult passport is valid for 10 years.  A child passport is valid for 5 years.
