How to schedule a car seat check:
- Install your child seat in your vehicle(s) using the child seat manual and the owner’s manual of the vehicle. Be sure to fill out and mail in the registration card included with the car seat or register the seat on the manufacturer website. If you are having difficulties installing your seat there are handy resources and video’s online that you can reference. If you have not installed your seat prior to your appointment we will reschedule your appointment to give you the opportunity to do so.
- Check to make sure your child seat has not been recalled: http://www.safercar.gov/parents/CarSeats/Car-Seat-Recalls.htm
- Fill out the highlighted areas of the inspection form and bring it with you to your appointment. This will streamline the process to assist us; Inspectors are also Firefighter/ Paramedics who could be called out to respond to an emergency incident during the appointment. If that does happen we will re-contact you ASAP to reschedule.
- Contact the Fire Department at (248) 530- 1947 and leave a message with your NAME, ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER. One of our inspectors will call you back to schedule an appointment or answer any of your questions ASAP. It is important to note that our Inspectors work a rotating schedule. We are not here every weekday so don’t be alarmed if you don’t hear back from us immediately. We will contact you as soon as one of us gets back to the station.
We understand life happens and if you cannot make your appointment please call the station ahead of time and we will happily reschedule the appointment.
