Untitled - CopyThe best thing a citizen can do to prevent crime is keep an eye out for their neighborhood. Neighborhood awareness can lead to many good tips on suspicious and criminal activity. Should you see any suspicious vehicles, persons, or activity, do not hesitate to contact the Birmingham Police Department. It is important to maintain your safety and allow the responding police officers to handle the situation.When contacting Birmingham Police, IF it is safe for you to do so, try to provide the following information to the police dispatcher:

Suspicious Vehicles

  • Vehicle Make (Chrysler, Mercedes)
  • Vehicle Model (Fusion, Explorer)
  • Vehicle Style (2 door, 4 door, SUV)
  • Vehicle Color
  • Vehicle License Plate
  • Identifiable markings, such as bumper stickers, custom rims, or vehicle damage
Suspicious Persons

  • Sex (Male, Female)
  • Race-Ethnicity (White, African American, Asian, etc.)
  • Height
  • Weight (thin, heavy)
  • Physical Description (Hair style/color, facial features, scars/tattoos, eyeglasses)
  • Clothing Description  

Try to be as specific as possible when describing what was suspicious about this situation, where the subject/vehicle was, and direction they may have headed.

If you feel the situation is an emergency, call 911 immediately.

Non-emergency situations may be reported to Birmingham Police Dispatch at 248.530.1870.
