The Birmingham Museum is a municipally operated public institution with collection objects and archives that pertain to Birmingham's history that are held in the public trust. As part of the City of Birmingham, we hold regular public Museum Board meetings on the first Thursday of every month. We are always evolving, and very interested in hearing from you, whether it is a resource you are looking for, suggestion of topics for us to explore, or a program that might meet your need. Our mission statement reflects our values of "people" over "artifacts," in our approach to serving the public interest, and our focus on the story behind the facts. Stop by to learn more: Tuesday-Saturday 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., or by appointment.

Mission Statement: The Birmingham Museum will explore meaningful connections with our past, in order to enrich our community and enhance its character and sustainability. Our mission is to promote understanding of Birmingham's historical and cultural legacy through the preservation and interpretation of its ongoing story.
