The Board of Review, consisting of two panels of three local citizens who must be property owners and electors, is appointed by the city commission for three-year terms.  Although a general knowledge of the city is very helpful, more important are good judgment and the ability to listen carefully to all sides of an issue before making a decision.  Approximately three weeks in March are scheduled for taxpayers to protest their assessments and one day each in July and December for correcting clerical errors and mutual mistakes of fact.  Two training sessions are also required.

Protests may be made by written appeal or remote participation.  Petitioner agents must provide a written appeal with the ORIGINAL signature of the petitioner represented and current date.  Written appeals must be received by 9:00 pm on Thursday, March 11th.  No fax appeals will be accepted.  For an appointment in advance, please contact Oakland County Equalization Division, Toll Free at 1-888-350-0900 Ext. 80776 or (248) 858-0776.

The 2021 July Board of Review will be on July 20th, 2021.

The purpose of the July Board of Review will be to correct clerical errors and review hardship appeals.

Any Taxpayer wishing to file a hardship appeal that has not already appealed hardship to the March Board, please contact the Treasurer’s office at 248-530-1890 or by calling Oakland County Equalization Division, at (248) 858-0740.  Appointments for hardship appeals will be scheduled prior to the Board of Review.  Any other hardship appeals will be heard at 9:00 am in person or by Zoom.
