Be part of the next steps in the Master Plan process as work on the first draft document moves forward

While the citywide Master Plan Charrette and Drop-In Clinic have concluded, there's still ample opportunities for you to participate in and understand the ongoing citywide Master Plan process, that is anticipated to conclude in mid-2020 with the adoption of the new Master Plan.

While subject to further vetting and adjustments, the Charrette Summary Document listed here will serve as a foundation piece for the eventual Master Plan. Consider taking time to review this document and understand what has transpired in the process thus far.  Next, consider attending or watching online upcoming Planning Board meetings. It is anticipated that in late September, the Board will begin reviewing the first draft of the proposed Master Plan. Check the City website at https://www.bhamgov.org/government/boards/planning_board.php for meeting agendas and minutes. Also coming this fall (planned for October), will be a third Master Plan survey that will be available online at www.thebirminghamplan.com and in hard copies as well. Stay tuned for more information on that.

You are also encouraged to continue to monitor City communication tools such as the monthly Around Town e-newsletter as well as the upcoming Fall-Winter print newsletter, where articles on the Master Plan will appear. In addition, the monthly Inside City Hall video from City Manager Joe Valentine along with City social media platforms such as the City website, Facebook and Nextdoor will provide updates on the process. Finally, as mentioned, the project website, www.thebirminghamplan.com has an array of information about the current Master Plan process as well as insights into Birmingham’s history of municipal planning and much more.
