City residents who are interested in civic participation or increasing their knowledge about local government operation can apply for the Citizens Academy online at bhamgov.org/citizensacademy. The academy meets for 8 weeks, and participants learn about all aspects of the government process. The program is offered to Birmingham residents, age 18 or older, at no charge, and a certificate of completion will be given at the end to those who complete the course.
Election Inspectors
Have you ever been curious about elections? Now is your chance to become a part of the election process! Sign up to become an election inspector today! Election Inspectors work from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM and are paid $10.00 per hour. (Half day shifts are available if needed.) Election Inspectors are required to attend a training session prior to each election and must have strong computer skills. All Election Inspectors must be a registered voter, resident of Michigan, and at least 18 years of age or older. For additional information, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 248.530.1880. Serve on a Board and Commission
If you are interested in serving on one of the many boards and commissions in the city, please contact the city clerk's office. We have openings on various boards from time to time. Student Involvement and Volunteer Options
Students have the opportunity to get involved in many ways.
- To work the elections, students must be 16 years of age.
- To volunteer during the parade, students can be any age.
- To serve on a board or commission, contact the government teacher at your high school.
Annual Quarton Lake Garlic Mustard Pull & Rouge Rescue Event
